Work |
Rev. Za Khar was born in a small village
of Lungcawipi more than 75 miles from the nearest town. They have
an elementary school, but if they want to continue their studies beyond
that, they must travel that 75 miles to town to the nearest middle school.
The land is hilly and the people there eke out a living doing subsistence
farming. Now Rev. Za Khar is a Baptist pastor serving in the same village
for the same people he grew up with. He knows what it is like to
experience famine and disease, and he believes that his parishioners are
capable of a much better standard of living, in which everyone has clean
water, enough to eat, and access to education. At ARI he is
interested in obtaining skills in integrated organic farming and bring
them back to his people in order to improve farming methods in the region
and ensure higher and more consistent yields.
