As Scholarship Coordinator of Cordillera Green Network (CGN), Ms. Lourdes Augusto Sison facilitates scholarship programs for underprivileged families in the region of Cordillera, in the Philippines.  By being in touch with these poor families in the rural areas, she is able to observe real problems such as unemployment, lack of infrastructure, and deforestation accelerated by unecological agricultural production.  She would like to introduce new livelihood activities, especially for rural marginalized women.  At ARI she wants to learn how to organize rural communities more efficiently and effectively, through interacting with the participants from many different countries.  She would like to learn organic farming methods, food processing, and biogas energy systems as well.  Her hope is to establish an organic farm, as a new CGN project, where farmers can receive hands-on training.

CGN - Cordillera Green Network

CGN – Cordillera Green Network was founded by concerned environmentalists as a network-NGO for villages in the Cordilleras, a mountain chain in north Luzon. Their main goal is to inform village people of the unique environment of these mountains and encourage them to conserve it.  CGN has established an information system to educate people on environment in the Cordilleras.  It develops partnerships with Cordillera communities and promotes ecological exchange programs at the local, national, and international level.  They provide village people with knowledge and skills on how to care for the environment in sustainable ways, and giving active support in construction work, community building and alternative income generation programs.  CGN always strives to maintain close and direct relationships to Cordillera people.
