Work

As Program Coordinator of Gono Bikash Karjokom (GBK), Ms. Rina Rani Moulik is strongly aware that women are socially oppressed, made voiceless, and deprived of basic human rights in society.  She has also observed that environmental degradation by chemical-based agricultural systems has caused severe damage to the agro-ecosystem and negatively affected productivity.  She maintains that poverty in her society is due to unequal distribution of production and income and coordinates training programs for rural people to bring awareness of these problems and uplift their living standards.

She would like to acquire leadership skills at ARI, so that she would be able to promote networking in her community and design her training programs in more effective ways.  First she plans to disseminate her skills and knowledge gained at ARI to capable staff in GBK.  Together with these staff she would like to extend her organization’s activities to more villages and districts which are in need of assistance.

GBK – Gono Bikash Karjakram

Gono Bikash Karjokom (GBK) encourages and aids local communities in organizing themselves into Community Based Organizations (CBO’s). By this strategy of group formation they want to facilitate the formation of healthy unified communities where they can implement credit systems. They provide educational programs such as human and democratic rights awareness, advocacy for gender equality, legal aid training to give understanding of property rights, and seminars on credit cooperatives.  They also have agricultural programs for women on vegetable gardening and homestead gardening, in order for women to build proper vegetable gardens at home and to understand about the nutrition of food they provide for family.
