Work

One of Mr. Eric Dindze Tangka’s best childhood memories is of the garden where his widowed mother taught him and his six brothers and sisters how to grow vegetables that basically kept the family alive. They ate what they needed and sold the rest from a small back yard market that consisted of old pots and broken buckets of all shapes and sizes. A young victim of polio which left him with a severe limp, Mr. Tangka never let his disability get in the way of caring for his seedlings and harvesting the vegetables that he planted with his own hands.

As an Extension Staff member at the Kumbo Development and Orientation Centre (KUDOC) Mr. Tangka passes on his extensive agricultural knowledge to his rural community. He specifically feels called to help work with the most marginalized members of his community, such as the handicapped and women, because of his own condition. In addition, Mr. Tangka teaches young adults skills that they can use to find gainful employment.
