Work
Ms. Naw Pathi Paw is currently a lecturer at the All Saints Bible School in the Mandalay Diocese. She gives bible education, supervises the boarders, and organizes development projects in the local community. Previous to this she worked as a women’s coordinator carrying out development projects for women in the Diocese of Taungoo. She received her ministry license in June of 1995. Ms. Naw Pathi Paw was born and raised in a farming family and she feels a real connection with the farmers she works with. “Since my childhood I helped my family in cultivation, harvesting, and processing of paddy, which are essential foods for us. I also raised pigs and chickens to bring some extra money for the family. The Myanmar economy is based on agriculture. My target people are rural people from the diocese of Mandalay who are farmers and cultivators.” At ARI she is eager to learn more about breeding livestock and also about integrated farming techniques that are appropriate to the conditions and abilities of the local farmers. When she returns she will set up a practical training program on agriculture for farmers. She is particularly interested in including some of the disabled members of the community for this program.

Sending Organization
The Church of the Province of Myanmar was formed in 1970, nine years after the declaration of Buddhism as the state religion and four years after all foreign missionaries were forced to leave. The Diocese of Mandalay is located in the central part of the country. While the state religion of Myanmar is Buddhism there is also a large population of Christians in the country. The Diocese of Mandalay seeks to engage people in the Gospel through evangelism, service projects, and community development. |
