Harvest Thanksgiving Celebration (HTC)

HTC is an annual two day festival the second weekend of October. HTC usually draws over 1,000 visitors over Saturday and Sunday. There are many fun activities and opportunities to learn about food and our world during HTC.

HTC is held every year at ARI to give thanks to God for the bountiful harvest we gather from mother earth. We have an ecumenical worship service each morning at which participants, volunteers and guests wear their traditional clothing and celebrate the harvest. A special culture show displays the many talents of our community, often including music, drama, dance and lots of fun. Food and drinks prepared according to traditional recipes can be purchased during the two-day festival and you are sure to not leave hungry.
HTC volunteer recruiting
We are recruiting volunteers who can help us from preparation until the HTC event. If you are interested in organizing HTC with participants from all over the world, volunteers and staff, come and join us!

Opening Ceremony and Graduation Ceremony

Other events include our Opening Ceremony where participants get a chance to meet their diverse group of supporters. The Opening Ceremony is normally held on the second Saturday in April. There is a Graduation Ceremony event as well where we celebrate the completion of the participant's training. This is an especially joyful event as the participants prepare to return to their homes countries. The Graduation Ceremony is usually held on the second Saturday in December.

We hope that you will come visit us during one of our events. We always need help in preparing and hosting events and hope that you can volunteer in the future. The Harvest Thanksgiving Festival is an especially rewarding time to volunteer.

Host an event for ARI

Interested in supporting ARI from you own home or church? You might be interested in hosting an ARI Banquet. We provide you with simple recipes from past graduates that you can prepare with your family, friends, community or church, spreading ARI's mission to form a world where we can all live together. If you wish to make it a fundraiser you can ask for donations to help support rural leader training at ARI. Your generous support helps uplift peoples from some of the most marginalized communities in the world by empowering them with sustainable knowledge.

More information and materials will be available on this website shortly. If you are interested in getting started, please e-mail us to Ecumenical Relations today.

We hope that you will take an opportunity to share life by sharing food. Your support through prayers, contributions and donations are all deeply appreciated by the women and men who travel such a long way to Japan to learn more about leadership and sustainable and organic agriculture.
